Below are links to stories I have written about swimming and pools – ocean baths on Sydney’s coast, water holes in Central Australia, piscines in Paris, and historic pools all over Australia.

The Pool, Australia’s exhibition at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale
Australia’s exhibition at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale was The Pool. Led by creative directors, Amelia Holliday, Isabelle Tolland, Michelle Tabet and Olivia Hyde, The Pool invited viewers to explore the pools of Australia in all their forms: natural or man-made; inland or coastal; and temporary or permanent. It also asked the questions: ‘Is the pool a consummate symbol of Australian identity?
I contributed words and photos to two publications that were produced to accompany the exhibition: the book, The Pool: Architecture, Culture and Identity in Australia and From the Edge, a broadsheet available at the exhibition in Venice. My stories and photos were also featured in a digital newspaper when The Pool was re-exhibited at the National Gallery of Victoria in 2017-2018.
